TMCS to offer gardening classes

TIPP CITY — How does your garden grow? Tipp Monroe Community Services has some classes to help you with your landscaping.

One of the best benefits of growing an herb garden is having fresh herbs right at your fingertips. Master Gardener Elaine Richards will teach an herb gardening class from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21. She will have tips and suggestions on growing herbs plus recipes to turn everyday meals into something interesting using your own herbs.

Tipp City Arborist John Montgomery will offer tree pruning techniques from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11. Learn the techniques of when to cut, what to cut and where to cut. Proper tree pruning tools will be discussed.

TMCS looking for board members

TIPP CITY — The Tipp Monroe Community Services’ Board of Trustees is looking to fill three board seats. TMCS would like to encourage anyone who lives in Tipp City and Monroe Township, who might be interest in becoming a trustee to contact the TMCS Executive Director, Kathryn L. Taylor, at the Community Services office(937) 667-8631. She will be happy to answer any questions concerning the roles of individual trustees and the entire board.

Deadline to submit applications is Tuesday, July 5. A continuing goal of the TMCS Board, Advisory Members and staff is to meet the needs of the community in recreation, community education, cultural and social services. Input from the community assists Community Services in achieving this goal. By sitting on the TMCS Board of Trustees, residents can take part in fulfilling immediate needs, while planning the future of Tipp Monroe Community Services.

Tree Board to meet

TIPP CITY — The Tipp City Tree Board will meet at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, in the Tipp City Government Center, 260 S. Garber Drive. At that time applications for curb lawn tree removals and plantings will be considered.

Applications may be obtained at the Service/Planning window in the Government Center and must be returned by noon on Friday, May 27.

Health Trekkers to meet

TIPP CITY — The Miami County Park District will hold its Health Trekkers program on June 10 from 6-7 p.m. at Lost Creek Reserve, 2385 East State Route 41 east of Troy.

Take a hike for heath and join park district health and wellness specialist, registered nurse Marion for this weekly low impact walk. Relevant topics such as heart health, diet and nutrition, diabetes prevention, stress relief and many others will be discussed during this twelve walk series.

Cave Quest VBS at Ginghamsburg Church

TIPP CITY — Ginghamsburg Church will open its doors to children in the community, age 3 and potty trained through fifth grade, for a free family event held June 13-16.

During Cave Quest Vacation Bible School, kids will spend each evening spelunking through field-tested activity stations with their Cave Crews. Every station is designed to reinforce the daily Bible point in a hands-on, interactive way that keeps everyone engaged.
