Caregiver program set
TROY — Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County is offering a new series of Caregiver Connection programs to support home caregivers.
Open to all caregivers, this group serves as a support group and offers a safe place to ask questions and speak openly about the responsibilities, concerns and questions associated with caring for someone with a life-limiting illness. The series is designed to offer:
• A chance to talk with other caregivers, and learn how to handle the challenges of caring for the needs of another person.
• A safe place to ask questions and speak openly about the challenges caregivers face.
• An encouraging and confidential atmosphere.
Anyone responsible for the care of another person or who might be feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of care giving is invited to attend.
“Caregiver Connection” will be held from 2-3 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 2899 W. Main St., Troy, on the followings dates: July 13 and 27, Aug. 10 and 24 and Sept. 14 and 28.

TMCS addresses heroin epidemic
TIPP CITY — TMCS will host a class providing insight into the growing heroin epidemic in the area and its influences on the community from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at the Tipp City Government Center.
Signs of use, trends, driving under the influence, uses, and the topic of narcan will be discussed. This class is open to any individual in the community who would like more information about heroin use. Tipp City police officers will provide instruction.

Art show participants needed
WEST MILTON — Hoffman United Methodist Church is again looking for applicants to take part in their 11th annual art show to be held Aug. 4-6. The deadline for entering is July 20.
The event is held in the activity center at 201 S. Main St., West Milton. The purpose of the show is to share area talent with the public. The show is non-juried.
Some pieces may be available for purchase, with transactions handled directly between the artist and the interested party.
A gift from local arts patron Bill Netzley of Netzley Roofing has enabled Hoffman to offer monetary awards again this year. Awards to be given are $500 for first place, $400 for second place and $300 for third place. Eight additional awards of $100 each will also be presented.
Application forms may be picked up at the church office and The Hen’s Nest in West Milton, The Hotel Gallery and Studio 14 in Tipp City. Forms are also available for downloading from the church website at www.hoffmanumc.org.

Clean Sweep upcoming
MIAMI COUNTY — The Clean Sweep 2017 of the Great Miami River Watershed will be July 21 and will span the area between Piqua and Tipp City.
This free event, which includes physical and strenuous work, also will include a free lunch and T-shirt.
A boating safety talk will be part of the program.
Volunteers must wear life jackets and thick-soled shoes covering the toes at all times.
