Brett Eldredge did plenty to bring fans on board with his debut album, and now — just a few months after being named Country Music Associations New Artist of the Year — organizers at Troy’s historic Hobart Arena are bringing him back to Troy.
Arena officials announced this week that the 29-year-old Illinois native will return to Troy at 8 p.m. Oct. 9 for show at Hobart Arena.
“It will be a year since we have had a country act at Hobart, so we are excited to be bringing Brett Eldredge back to Troy,” said Hobart Arena Director Ken Siler. “He performed at Hobart Arena as an opening act for Billy Currington’s “We Are Tonight” Tour in the spring of 2014 and was well received. Since that time he has had another song hit No. 1 on the Country Charts and currently has another song moving up the charts quickly.”
Since leaping into the country music scene with his debut album – 2013’s “Bring You Back” — Eldredge has put together an impressive string of hits — all of which he wrote or co-wrote. His first chart-topper, “Don’t Ya,” debuted at No. 58 in October 2012 before climbing all the way to the top of the Billboard Country Airplay charts. The song has sold more than a million copies to date and helped establish Eldredge as one of country music’s fresh new voices.
He followed up that single with another No. 1 effort — “Beat of the Music,” with his third single (“Mean To Me”) also topping the country airplay charts.
Eldredge performed those hits during his 2014 appearance in Troy, where he helped close out the evening by joining Chase Rice and Currington onstage for an ensemble performance of the Garth Brooks classic “Friends In Low Places.”
His latest album, “Illinois” — slated to come out this fall — features current radio hit “Lose My Mind,” which recently broke into the Top 20.
Having already opened for established country music acts such as Currington, Little Big Town, Darius Rucker and Taylor Swift, Eldredge will be headlining his own shows on select dates this year.
“He’s obviously one of the up-and-coming stars on the country music scene,” Siler added.
Tickets for the Oct. 9 show are $28 and $40 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday online at www.hobartarena.com, or by calling (937) 339-2911.
