June 28

CITIZEN ASSIST: An officer was called to a residence on the 500 block of Pine Street. The back door window of the home was shattered. The officer searched and secured the home and informed the homeowner.

June 30

CURFEW VIOLATION: An officer was traveling east on W. Main St. behind a Green Ford Explorer. The vehicle drifted left and crossed the yellow line then came back and drifted right over the white line. The officer activated lights and the vehicle pulled over on E. Main St.

The driver and two passengerswere all males 17 years of age. The officer explained to them what curfew is and that they had violated curfew. A warning was given for the lane violation. All three juvenile males have been charged with curfew violation.

VEHICLE RECOVERED: An officer on a building check at LaQuinta Hotel observed a white van parked in the far corner of the lot. The van was parked crooked in the parking space. After verification through LEADS, it was noted that the vehicle was stolen.

An officer checked to be sure the vehicle was unoccupied. While another checked with the records of registered vehicles to the hotel rooms and did not locate a match. Dispatch confirmed the vehicle was stolen from Troy. Dispatch contacted Troy’s officer in charge who requested Randy’s to take the vehicle to their sally port. The ignition was on the floor on the driver’s side and the vehicle was unlocked.

Randy’s arrived and retrieved the vehicle.

DRUG POSSESSION: An officer on routine patrol traveling west on W. Main St. on the I-75 overpass was behind an orange 1994 Chevy Camaro. The vehicle turned its right turn signal on to turn onto the I-75 SB off-ramp. The vehicle began turning the wrong way on the ramp until on-coming traffic began approaching. The vehicle then backed up and continued west on W. Main St. It then turned right onto Weller Dr. before pulling into the parking lot of the Speedway Gas Station. The officer activated lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop.

The officer made contact with the driver, Charles Shelby, and informed him of the reason for the stop. He stated that he is not from the area, and was confused. He stated that he does not have a driver’s license and provided the registration. He said that the vehicle belongs to his brother, but he uses it.

His driving status is currently under suspension. He also has an active warrant for contempt of court from Darke County. When the warrant was confirmed, the officer asked Shelby to exit the vehicle and placed him into custody. In his left front pocket he had a plastic bag containing marijuana which was secured as evidence. Shelby was charged with driving under suspension, and possession of drugs/ marijuana.

July 5

OVI: An officer was traveling south on 25A near Floral Acres and noticed a Green Saturn traveling at 55 MPH in a posted 45 MPH zone. The officer got behind the vehicle and the car drifted left and hit the line then came back to the right and hit the line then went back to the left and hit the line again. The officer made contact with the driver who was also the owner, Tammy Ringler.

Ringler told the officer that she was arguing with her passenger/boyfriend. She had a slurred speech and the officer noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. She refused to do a field sobriety test and was placed in handcuffs and placed in the back of the cruiser.

Ringler was cited for marked lanes violation and OVI.
