Milton Memories scheduled
WEST MILTON — The first of the fall Milton Memories recording sessions will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m., at the West Milton Municipal Building on S. Miami St. The topic will be a continuation of local businesses.
Audience participation is encouraged. The sessions air on the local access channel at various times.

Free shooting event set
VANDALIA — After a rainout on June 20, the “Second Shots” .22 Rimfire Challenge shooting event has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Miami Valley Shooting Grounds, 7771 Johnson Station Rd., Vandalia.
This challenge will introduce participants to the fun and excitement of competitive shooting in a safe, low-pressure, family-friendly environment. All levels of shooters are welcome to compete in this free event. Shooters must be at least 18 years of age. Under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
Competitors may use their own rifle, handgun and 50 rounds of ammunition from any manufacturer in .22 Long Rifle caliber. Firearms will also be available at the range for those who need them, but ammunition for them must be purchased at the range.
Range Safety Officers and coaches will be on hand to help new and novice shooters move up to the next level of proficiency and help them get started in competitive shooting.
The event will be limited to 30 shooters. Sign up in person at Miami Valley Shooting Grounds or by phone at 937-898-3711. The range is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Clothing drive set
WEST MILTON — The Senior Shepherds of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in West Milton, Ohio are sponsoring a Clothing Drive to benefit “The Clothesline” located at 22 N. Second Street, Tipp City, Ohio. “The Clothesline” is a non-profit organization providing new and gently used clothing, accessories and linens for the whole family at very reasonable prices and free of charge in emergency situations.
“God’s Work, Our Hands” projects similar to this will occur at Evangelical Lutheran Churches all over the United States to show love and support for our neighbors.
Start gathering gently used clothing (infant through adult ages), shoes and bed linens that you would like to donate. Please drop them off at the church at 1209 South Miami Street, West Milton, on Sunday, September 27 between 2 and 4 p.m. If you would like to drop off items before that date, please call the church office at 698-5826.
Artists sought for art show
WEST MILTON — Hoffman United Methodist Church is looking for applicants to take part in the ninth annual art show Oct. 2-4 in the activity center at 201 S. Main St., West Milton. The deadline for entering is September 14.
The purpose of the show is to share area talent with the public. The show is non-juried. Some pieces may be available for purchase, with transactions handled directly between the artist and the interested party.
A gift from local arts patron Bill Netzley of Netzley Roofing has enabled Hoffman to offer monetary awards again this year. Awards to be given are $500 for first place, $400 for second
place, and $300 for third place. Seven additional awards of $100 each will also be presented. This year there will be a youth category open to current high school students with two $50 awards presented in that category.
Application forms may be picked up at the church office, Really Cool Stuff and The Hen’s Nest in West Milton, and The Hotel Gallery in Tipp City. Forms are also available for downloading from the church website at HoffmanUMC.org.
Artisan showcase accepting submissions
TIPP CITY — Applications are being accepted for artists and craftspeople to participate in the 10th annual Artisan Artisans Showcase, to be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
This show features fine quality art produced by local artists, including paintings, fiber arts, ceramics, jewelry, lapidary, woodcrafts, and polymer clay.
Homemade food will also be available.

Christmas Holiday Show seeking vendors
TIPP CITY — Applications are being accepted for artists and craftspeople to be vendors for the 47th Annual Christmas Holiday Show, on Saturday, Nov. 14, during Tipp City’s annual Winter Yuletide Gathering.
This event features local artists with their handmade items including articles in clay, wood, fiber arts, glass, polymer clay, paintings, and many other materials. No buy/sell or manufactured items please.
The show is held in the basement of the Monroe Township Building at the corner of Third and Main. Hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
There is a caterer handling food service, and many people come downstairs for lunch and also visit the show.
