Visit the beach in Tipp City

TIPP CITY — If you like the beach and like to play in the water and get wet, July 13 – 17 will be the wettest week of summer. Beach Bash will be full of water games and you can get submerged in the world of the deep blue sea.

Trailing moms and tots

TIPP CITY — The Miami County Park District will hold its Trailing Moms & Tots program on July 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Charleston Falls Preserve, 2535 Ross Rd. south of Tipp City. This program is for expectant mothers, mothers and tots 0 to five years of age. Participants can socialize, play and exercise during this walk. There may even craft time. Tie dye party planned

WEST MILTON – Milton-Union Public Library offers teens a chance to tie dye this summer.

Young Adult Specialist Dawn Merritt hosts a teen tie dye day for middle and high schoolers , and adds an opportunity for them to bleach items, too. This event is for ages 12 and older and will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14. Attendees must bring their own clothing to tie dye and bleach. They are welcome to do both, but must have separate clothing items. The event is free and all supplies are provided.

Road closure announced

TIPP CITY — Beginning on July 14, 2015, County Road 25A will have a right lane closures/restrictions in the southbound travel lane as well as a left lane restriction in the northbound lane starting approximately 1000 feet north and south of the Meijer’s Facility entrance. RD Jones, subcontractor for the Meijer’s Facility, will be repairing trenches from a December 2014 water main trench placement.

The City has approved a maximum four day closure of the right two lanes involving a southbound lane restriction to one lane and the northbound lanes to be restricted to one lane through the intersection, this closure will only be during the working hours of 7 a.m. through 5 p.m. and all lanes will be re-opened to the traveling public each night. This work is weather dependent and may be extended for the week of July 19.

Firehouse fundraiser set

WEST MILTON — The West Milton Fire Company takes the “John Schultz Christmas Fund” seriously. To give back to local children and families in memory of John during the holidays is huge and something he had a passion for.

This year the station is going to host a car wash and open house on Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All of the donations go directly to the fund.

UVMC gift shop to host flea market

TROY — The Upper Valley Medical Center Gift Shop will host a flea market sale Wednesday, July 22, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the cafeteria conference rooms on the hospital lower level.

This one-day sale will feature special markdown prices on a large quantity of merchandise, including gift specialties, jewelry, purses, garden items, home decor, seasonal/holiday items, and much more.

The event, hosted by the UVMC Volunteer Services department, is open to the community as well as the hospital family. For further information, feel free to call 440-4995.

Christmas in July shows off 2015 homes

TIPP CITY — Curious about what is in store for this year’s Tipp City Christmas in the Village Home Tour? Whet your appetite for the annual event by driving through the West Broadway Boulevard neighborhood. During July, Featured Home signs will be placed in ten yards, indicating the homes on this year’s tour.

This “Christmas in July” promotion will last just one month. Next, mark your calendar for December 4 and 5. These are the dates for the 2015 tour.

School supplies needed

TIPP CITY — Tipp Monroe Community Services is collecting school supplies for fall 2015. Any and all supplies are needed but especially: dry erase markers, scissors, pencil sharpeners, colored pencils, boxes of tissues, highlighters, paper towels, cleaning wipes, zipper pouches, four function calculators, composition books, flash drives, and scientific calculators.

Please drop off items at the TMCS office at 3 E. Main St., Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. no later than August 10. Supplies will be distributed at the Lunch on Us program and will be available for pick up at our office after that date.
