MU kindergarten registration opens

WEST MILTON — Kindergarten registration for next school year at Milton-Union Elementary will be held April 5-7 at the elementary office. It is important for all potential kindergartners to be registered at this time, even if the parent is not sure they will attend, or all requested documentation is not available. A screening appointment will be made during this time for each child. Children must be five years old on or before July 31, 2016, to register.

Registration hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Report to the elementary school office at 7620 Milton-Potsdam Rd. with as much of the following documentation as possible: completed registration packet, parent’s proof of residency, most current physical/immunization information, child’s county birth certificate, and any custody documents. Bethel kindergarten registration begins

BETHEL TOWNSHIP — Kindergarten Registration will take place from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. on April 13 and 14 . All potential kindergartners must be 5 by Aug. 1, 2016. Please allow 30-45 minutes to fill out all the paperwork. You do not need to bring your child with you.

Registration packets will be available that day or you can fill out the registration packet ahead of time and bring with you. Packets are available in the elementary office or on the school’s website.

Please bring the following items: birth certificate, shot record, proof of residency (including any of the following: mortgage statement, lease agreement, two current utility bills from two different companies in your name,) custody papers (if applicable,) picture of your student, and a parent or guardian’s driver’s license. The elementary office will make copies of all documents for the school’s files.

Annual egg hunt set

WEST MILTON — The Annual Easter Egg hunt is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, in the West Milton Municipal Park. The event is sponsored by the West Milton Fire Company and Wertz Variety Store. The hunt is located on the sledding hill.

In the event that the weather is too bad, the event will be rescheduled for Easter at 2 p.m.

Easter event planned

WEST MILTON – It’s an Easter celebration at the Milton-Union Public Library! The whole family is welcome to come out from 2-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 and partake in the library’s first ever Easter egg hunt.

Plus, play Easter bingo to win prizes and enjoy sweet refreshments. The afternoon will culminate with an animated film about a bunny that digs “candy, chicks and rock n’ roll!”

Community Minded Women to award scholarship

TIPP CITY — Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to 2016 Tippecanoe High School graduating seniors by the Community Minded Women of Tipp City.

Each scholarship will be awarded to a graduate who has been accepted by a recognized college, university, business school, or school of advanced training beyond high school.

Consideration will be based upon academic achievement, community/school participation, desire and need. The winners will be announced during the May 2016 Senior Awards Program.

Tax assistance available

TIPP CITY — If you are a senior or of low income and get overwhelmed by tax filing, AARP can help. The AARP volunteers are trained to help and will e-file your return every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. until April 12 at the Tipp City library.

No appointments necessary, help available on a first come, first served basis.

Flag football registration open

TIPP CITY — Register for Tipp Monroe Community Service’s NFL flag football league for boys and girls before it’s too late. Registration ends March 25 and forms can be found online at or picked up at the TMCS office during office hours.

All games will have certified referees. And are played at Kyle Park. Games and practices on Sunday beginning April 10– May 22. Volunteer coaches are always needed.
