United Way hosts annual meeting

TIPP CITY — Tipp City Area United Way’s annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at noon at 12 S. Third St., in Tipp City. Anyone who gave to this year’s Annual Campaign is welcome to attend and find out more about the community improvement group.

Tax assistance available

WEST MILTON – If you are a senior or of low income and get overwhelmed by tax filing, AARP can help. The AARP Tax Aide volunteers are returning to the Milton-Union Public Library for their annual tax assistance program from now until April 14.

The volunteers will work with filers on a first come, first serve basis every Thursday from when the library opens at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and the second Monday of each month from 5:30-8 p.m. No sign-up is required. All personal paperwork should be brought with you.

TMCS addresses growing heroin epidemic.

TIPP CITY — This class will provide insight into the growing heroin epidemic in our area and the influences on our community. Signs of use, trends, driving under the influence, uses, and the topic of narcan will be discussed. This class is for parents and/or teenagers or any-one in the community who would like more information about heroin use. Officers of the Tipp City Police Department will be the instructors.

UVMC Heart Month health fair set

MIAMI COUNTY — Upper Valley Medical Center will host its annual Heart Month Health Fair for the community Feb. 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the UVMC Lower Level Conference Rooms.

Free cholesterol/blood sugar/blood pressure screenings will be offered. UVMC clinicians and cardiology professionals will be on hand to provide additional health testing and helpful information.

Cemetery cleanup to begin

WEST MILTON — Spring cleanup for Riverside (West Milton), Wheelock, Potsdam, Old Ludlow, Highland, Curtis, West Branch, and Unity Cemeteries will begin March 1.

Residents are reminded to remove all decorations and flowers. Due to Easter falling early this year, Union Township will be conducting spring cleanup in the cemeteries from March 1 through March 18.

Church to host blood drive

TROY — First Baptist Church of Troy will hold a community blood drive Saturday, Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the gym, 53 South Norwich Road in celebration of February “love your donor” month.

Everyone who registers to donate will receive the Community Blood Center “Love Your Donor – Save Lives Give Blood” t-shirt. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at or call 1-800-388-GIVE.
