Holiday sessions set

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA will be offering a variety of land and water group fitness classes during the holiday season. The session dates will extend from Dec. 14 through Jan. 3. Registration begins Monday, Dec. 7.

A variety of classes will be offered including yoga, cycling, aqua power, BARRE, tabata, Zumba, and more. The holiday mini-session schedule can be picked up from either Miami County YMCA location or at www.miamicountyymca.net.

Events planned for MU library

WEST MILTON — Several programs are planned for Monday, Dec. 7, at the Milton — Union Public Library in West Milton. The Crafty Listeners gather from 1-2:30 p.m. This group of women listen to an audio book while working on joint and individual craft projects. Both experienced crafters and those wanting to learn are welcome.

Mystery, romance, laughter and miracles make up the Adult Evening Book Discussion Group’s choice for December. Join the conversation over “Blue Christmas” by Mary Kay Andrews at 7 p.m. in the community room.

Christmas music in the Tipp Library

TIPP CITY — The public is invited to experience the Christmas holiday through music at the Tipp City Library on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 1-4 p.m.

Performers include the Bethel High School Choir, St. John Catholic Church Choir, pianist Susan Southers, Bethel High School Jazz Sextet, and the Troy High School Troy Tones.

Come and hear the sounds of Christmas. Free concert sponsored by Friends of the Tipp City Library.

Christmas church tour set

PLEASANT HILL — The Pleasant Hill Community Church Christmas Walk, sponsored by the Pleasant Hill Ministerium, will be Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015.

Schedule for the evening is: Brethren in Christ at 6:30, Church of the Brethren at 6:50, Church of God at 7:10, First Brethren Church at 7:30, United Church of Christ at 7:50 p.m.

The evening concludes with time for fellowship. Enjoy light refreshments and singing of carols at the United Church of Christ at 8:10 p.m.

Free Christmas celebration in Pleasant Hill

PLEASANT HILL — The community is invited to join in celebrating the birth of Jesus on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Pleasant Hill at 105 S. Main Street, located one block south of the monument on the east side just past Hill St.. Children can pet the animals.

Enjoy fellowship by the fire and refreshments with the villagers. There will be hot chocolate, hot cider and cookies. Fun for the whole family.

This event is free and everyone is welcome.

Giving Tree to benefit schools

TIPP CITY — The “Giving Tree” is now up in the Government Center lobby. City staff are accepting donations, as in previous years, of mittens, scarves, socks, etc. and will be donated to the Tipp City school district.

Cookbook fundraiser under way

TIPP CITY — This time of the year brings many people together with family and friends during the holiday season. But for the food insecure, it is still yet another reminder of how their family is struggling and what they are unable to give to their loved ones. Tipp City Area United Way is selling a cookbook called, “Good and Cheap, Eat Well On $4/ Day.” It is full of wonderful recipes that everyone can enjoy on any type of budget including beautiful pictures of the prepared food.

The cookbooks cost $8 each or $15 for two. You can purchase the cookbooks at the Tipp City Area United Way office at 12 South Third Street, Zack Jacob’s State Farm, 16 S Tippecanoe Drive, Hamler Gingrich/Favorite Insurance Agency, 115 S Tippecanoe Dr # C, Bash Foo, 140 E Broadway Ave, or Regal Beloit, 531 N 4th St, all of which are located in Tipp City, Ohio.

Church to present concert

WEST MILTON — Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, West Milton, Ohio will present their annual “The Sounds of Christmas” concert Friday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Preparations under way for December tradition

TIPP CITY — Tipp City Exempted Village Schools, the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce, and the city of Tipp City are jointly hosting the annual Senior Citizens Holiday Breakfast. The event will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at LT Ball Intermediate School from 9-10:30 a.m.

Superintendent Dr. Gretta Kumpf says she looks forward to welcoming the community’s senior citizens as the district’s guests.

“This gives us a chance to thank them for their contributions to our community and schools,” Kumpf said.

The breakfast will feature musical, dance, and vocal performances by students in the district.

The breakfast is open to all Monroe Township and Tipp City senior citizens. Interested residents should make a reservation with the district at 667-8444 by Dec. 10 to allow for adequate planning.

Seniors invited to holiday party

WEST MILTON — All senior citizens in Union Township are invited to be the guests at the “Very Merry Christmas Party” from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 . The Senior Ministry at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1209 S. Miami St., West Milton, will host the event.

The Milton-Union Center Stage Show Choir will be the featured entertainment. Food, games, carol singing and fellowship will complete the afternoon.

Vacation camp offered

TROY — When the air turns frigid and the frost settles on the windows, children fill with anticipation of winter vacation.

Sign your child up for a half day, 9 a.m. to noon, or a whole day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., of exploration and fill their new found free time with fun and learning at Brukner Nature Center.

During this winter vacation we will investigate the world of native Ohio wildlife and how they move. Whether it’s the long sturdy legs of a white tailed deer used for running and jumping, or the pectoral and tail fins of a fish used for gliding through the water, all creatures have developed fascinating methods for moving and being successful within their niche! Join us for a day filled with amazing fun facts about Ohio’s native creatures. The fee for half day is $10 for members and $15 for non-members or full day is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. This camp is for grades K-fifth grade students. Payment is due at time of registration (cash or check).

Final deadline for registration is Friday, Dec. 18.

Casner joins diversity organization

ASHLAND — Nicole Casner of Fletcher is a member of the diversity on campus organization at Ashland University.

Casner is majoring in nursing.

She is the daughter of Jonathan and Gloria Casner of Fletcher. Casner is a 2014 graduate of Bethel High School.
