MONROE TOWNSHIP — The Monroe Township Trustees meeting on Oct. 19 addressed the recent announcement that a reconstruction road closure on South County Road 25-A near Tipp City began Tuesday from State Route 571 (West Main Street) to Curry Branch where the southbound traffic lane will be closed due to utility reconstruction and roadway widening for phase 2 and 3 of this roadway project. County Road 25-A from Curry Branch to State Route 571/West Main will be open in the northbound direction only.
Evanston Road, Peters Road and State Route 571 will be posted as the official Miami Country detour route. In a recent news release from city of Tipp City, it was stated the “city” expects the construction schedule for phase 2 and 3 to be completed by May 15, 2016, and then will proceed to phase 4 and 5 of the reconstruction project, which will change traffic patterns and access. Further updated posting will follow but in the meantime, the trustees have asked the Miami County Sheriff’s Office to check on the traffic issues that have occurred since the road detour began.
As a reminder to area residents, trick or treat night for Miami County is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29; and cleanup at township cemeteries continues through Oct. 31, which allows for winter decorations and floral arrangements to begin being placed Sunday, Nov. 1; and the General Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The maintenance crew has been busy with burials and foundation installations in Maple Hill Cemetery, and maintenance for township trucks and equipment before the winter season sets in.
Bills paid at the Oct. 19 meeting totaled $20,490.51. The board also passed a resolution that covers expenses for township maintenance staff to attend the annual October GIE Expo in Louisville, Ky.
The next township board meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 in the township meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City.
