Trustees discuss cemetery clean up

MONROE TOWNSHIP — Residents were reminded at the Monroe Township Trustees’ meeting Oct. 16 that township cemetery fall cleanup is set for the week of Oct. 29.

Individuals are advised to remove graveside decorations and floral arrangements by this date, and then winter and holiday arrangements may be placed beginning Nov. 5. The road and maintenance crew also continues to make headway with trucks and machinery maintenance in preparation for the winter months, and year-end trimming and mowing before winter sets in. This department continues to work on catch basin cleaning and inspection.

Additionally, the township board renewed a depository agreement with Unity National Bank of Tipp City that extends to September 7, 2021, and approved bill payments totaling $48,291.64.

In reports it was noted the Tipp City Seniors, Inc. have secured ownership of land and building on North Hyatt Street next door to the Tipp City Post Office. The group will take over the building in 60 days with plans for some remodeling before a projected move-in date of late spring 2018.

A Tri-Agency meeting hosted by the Tipp City School Board is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30 between the school board members, Tipp City Council members and Monroe Township Trustees and Fiscal Officer. The community is also reminded that Beggar’s Night in Miami County will be Tuesday evening, Oct. 31 between 6-8 p.m.

The trustees will meet next at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6 in the township meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City. Voters are reminded that the following day of November 7 is Election Day, and that the township offices and facilities will be closed Friday, Nov. 10 in observance of Veterans Day Saturday, Nov. 11.
