BETHEL TWP. — At their meeting Monday, the Bethel board of education updated the district’s policy for the use of school premises and welcomed the district’s interim treasurer, Tammy Emrick.
The board previously approved a leave of absence without pay for Treasurer Randy Bryant and hired Emrick as the interim treasurer for the 2017-2018 school year. Her first regular meeting was Monday night.
Emrick recently retired from Miamisburg schools after a three decade career in school finance.
The board voted to set usage rates for Bethel Hall, the combination cafeteria and auditorium in the new addition, so that the space can be booked for events. The rates are set at $75 per hour for use of the hall and $35 per hour for sound equipment personnel.
“We’re starting to get requests for Bethel Hall,” Superintedent Virginia Potter said.
The board also heard from the district’s owner’s representative Joe Harkleroad.
“Our addition is obviously complete,” he said, adding that contractors are still finishing exterior site work around the new addition.
Middle school renovations are also progressing well, he added. Middle School Principal Alexis Detrick noted that the middle schoolers have a lot more space now that the new wing is open for the high school. She added that staff is looking forward to the completion of the new office and classroom renovations.
