TIPP CITY — Tipp City Area United Way’s 2015 Annual Campaign is underway and community support is needed to achieve their fundraising goal of $170,000.00.
“Since we were unable to achieve last year’s goal, we had no choice but to decrease our goal $30,000.00. What that means to our community is devastating, with less resources we had to decrease our support to our Partner Agencies and they now have less resources to help those who need it most in our community,” campaign chair Stan Evans announced. “We are optimistic that we may be able to exceed our goal this year with increased support of our local businesses participating in our Annual Campaign. Many local businesses do not participate, and we are hoping there will be a change of heart this year.”
Pam Catalano, Co-Campaign Chair added, “Poverty, homelessness, family violence, low graduation and literacy rates truly affect us all. When someone in our community has no shelter or a child at any of our local schools is going hungry, the strength of our entire community is weakened. There is no doubt – we are all connected. And that’s why we need ALL of Tipp City, Monroe and Bethel Township area residents and business leaders to give to our annual campaign so together we can create lasting change.”
Evans concluded,”We have once again, rededicated our board to personally reach out into the community to partner with our local businesses and individuals. With the increased support of our local businesses participating in the campaign, and offering payroll deductions, employees are provided with an easy way of contributing, while making a difference in the lives of others.”
United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. The United Way realizes that a quality education that leads to a stable job with enough income to support a family through retirement and good health are the building blocks to a better life. UW supports programs operated by trusted, local nonprofit organizations, and they are asking that residents give where they live, give where they work, and keep it local.
Catalano stated, “Last year a little over $37,000.00 was raised from outside employers’ campaigns throughout our area. Some of our local businesses in the area offer employee campaigns. What many people do not realize is that even if you work outside the Tipp City, Monroe, and Bethel Township areas, you can have your workplace donation or payroll deduction designated back to your home town Tipp City Area United Way. The best thing about giving to your local United Way is that the dollars stay here locally to be invested in our community, helping your friends and neighbors. Every single dollar counts, and makes a real difference.”
Residents can write Tipp City Area United Way in the provided designation area and start making a difference in the community. The Combined Federal Campaign code number for the Tipp City Area United Way is 74512. Designation information is also printed in our annual campaign brochure which was mailed to everyone in the Tipp City area.
