BETHEL TWP. — Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a break in at a mobile home park in Bethel Township.

Deputies responded to the A and B Mobile Home Park in the 4200 block of U.S. 40 in Phoneton, Bethel Township, Wednesday morning, after a report that a man broke into one of the homes.

According to Major Steve Lord of the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect allegedly made an unwanted sexual advance on the resident of a neighboring home.

Her husband stepped in to defend her and suffered a minor knife wound to the hand, Lord said. No serious injuries were reported.

“He fled the area,” Lord said. “We tried to locate him but were unsuccessful.”

K9 units searched the area around the mobile home Wednesday.

The suspect is believed to have been living in this country illegally, Lord said.

“We are still working to get a good identification of him. He’s gone by several different aliases,” Lord said. “We have to figure out his identity and make sure we’re charging the right person, do our due diligence.”
