TROY — The Miami County Visitors and Convention Bureau received top honors at the 19th Annual Awards of Excellence by the Association of Conventions & Visitors Bureaus (OACVB) held in Lancaster on Thursday, Sept. 22.

MIDDY Awards are presented for destination marketing and tourism development.

The Miami County Visitors and Convention Bureau submitted five entries and received honors in four categories: Marketing Campaign, Social Media, Print Advertisement-Leisure Travel and brochure for its 2016-2017 Visitors Guide.

Diana Thompson, executive director, said, “The MIDDY awards are a testimony to our marketing efforts on behalf of Miami County. We continually try to bring relevance and focus to our marketing and advertising projects and are truly proud of this recognition.”

Recipients of MIDDY Awards are recognized for excellence in objective, results, creativity and originality. One hundred thirty-three entries were received in print, advertising, promotion, social media, TV/video, website and marketing campaign categories. All entries are judged by a team of experts in related fields from outside the OACVB membership.

Convention and visitors bureaus are best described as destination marketing organizations and are responsible for travel and tourism awareness to visitors. Being recognized for a job well-done in the promotion of travel and tourism throughout the state of Ohio is a highly valued achievement for Miami County.
