Legion auxiliary awards scholarship

TIPP CITY — The Tipp City American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 586 presented three $500 scholarships to three area students on July 26.

Payton Wilks, sponsored by his grandmother Doris Dodd, was awarded a $500 scholarship to Ohio University. Wilks graduated from Tippecanoe High School this year receiving advanced placement and excellence awards his senior year. He will be attending Ohio University this fall majoring in Biological Anthropology.

Carlie Weir sponsored, by her mother Jennifer Weir, was awarded a $500 scholarship to Wittenberg University. Weir will be starting her junior year in the fall having achieved the dean’s list at Wittenberg during her first two years. She has a dual major in Early Childhood Education & Intervention Specialist/Special Needs.

Alex Shook, sponsored by his mother Marlene Shook, was awarded a $500 scholarship to The University of Dayton. Shook graduated from Vandalia Butler High School this year with honors and as a member of the National Honor Society. He will be attending The University of Dayton this fall where he will major in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical Engineering.
