MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Commissioners approved several agreements at the meeting Tuesday morning, including one authorizing the annual asphalt resurfacing project.

The commissioners awarded the contract for the 2016 asphalt resurfacing program to the John R. Jurgensen Company of Springfield for nearly $1.3 million. The board also issued a notice to proceed with the project.

According to County Engineer Paul Huelskamp, this year’s program will resurface about 12 miles of county roadways. The county is responsible for the maintenance of about 426 miles of roadway, he said.

The board also approved an agreement for claim processing services on behalf of the Juvenile Court. The court will contract with Justice Benefits, a company from Coppell, Texas, specializing in helping courts obtain federal reimbursements.

The company works on a contingency basis and will be paid 22 percent of funds recovered through claims submitted by the court.

The board also authorized the Facilities Maintenance Department to dispose of obsolete vehicles. Two vehicles will be disposed of at a combined scrap value of $750, a 1998 Ford cargo van to Didier Auto Parts and a 1996 Chevy Lumina to Dale’s Goodyear.
