MONROE TOWNSHIP — The Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Buzz’s Drive-Thru Carryout on South County Road 25-A in Monroe Township at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday on an alarm drop, according to Miami County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dave Duchak.
Upon arrival deputies found where forced entry had been attempted, he said. Deputies also received information that a pick-up truck was involved and may have tried to ram the building and possibly the soda machine. Parts of a vehicle were recovered at the scene.
Shortly thereafter, deputies observed a pick-up truck in Bethel Township and stopped the vehicle for traffic violations. It was learned the pick-up truck was stolen out of Dayton. The pick-up was driven by one Bart E. Knight, 41, of Dayton.
Duchak said evidence recovered from the vehicle placed it at the scene of the attempted breaking and entering. Knight was subsequently arrested and incarcerated into the Miami County Jail for driving under suspension, receiving stolen property, possession of criminal tools, breaking and entering and vandalism.
Knight has a lengthy criminal history, according to Duchak.
