Trustees OK contract renewals

MONROE TOWNSHIP _ At their business meeting May 16, the Monroe Township Trustees agreed to several 2016 contract renewals that included a weed control service by Greentech for Maple Hill Cemetery, in township subdivision curbs and gutters, and along various township roadside areas costing $6,750; and with Waste Management for a three-year service agreement at the township building of $153.22 per month. The board also agreed to pay this week’s township bills totaling $28,962.08.

Area residents are reminded that the Monroe Township offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. The trustees will be attending a Tri-Agency meeting the following day, May 31, and this meeting will be hosted by The Tipp City Board of Education.

Upcoming events noted include the weekly Miami County Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off each Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Miami County Sanitary Engineering Transfer Station, 2200 N. County Road 25-A in Troy; and the Maple Hill Cemetery Information Tent manned by township staff for questions and directions about grave sites between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 26-27 and between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 28.

Residents are also reminded Tipp City Senior Citizens Inc. will be meeting 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at the current location of 320 S. First St. These meetings are always open to the public.

The next township trustees meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, in the township meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City.
