Information provided by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office:

March 9

CHIPS: Newton High School officials notified the School Resource Officer of a student who stole two bags of chips from the school cafeteria. He stated that the student took two bags of chips while at lunch yesterday. The school official stated that when questioned, the student admitted to taking the chips and paid for them after being questioned. The school did not wish for charges, however, requested the incident documented.

ITEMS STOLEN: A deputy was dispatched to the 700 block North County Road 25-A, Troy on a theft complaint. The reporting party stated sometime 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on today’s date someone had taken items from his vehicle.

March 10

OVI: A deputy made a traffic stop for a moving violations on Ash Street in Piqua. At the conclusion of the investigation Derek Lucas was arrested for OVI.

March 12

OVI: A deputy was dispatched to 200 block of East Main Street, Bradford, on a hit-skip accident. After the investigation was complete, one male was arrested for failure to control and OVI.

March 13

SHOTS FIRED: Around 1:3o a.m. several complaints of gunfire in the area of Laura were received by dispatch. The shots continued and was likely occurring at 3456 Ditmer Road. The deputy could hear gunshots in that area but saw no one or no evidence of the exact location.

Deputies approached the residence and made contact with several intoxicated subjects. The deputy primarily contacted Barry Moore. Initially, he admitted that shooting had been occurring but that the people doing the shooting had left. Officers saw no weapons, ammunition or other evidence of weapons being fired. The officers warned all of the subjects for disturbing the peace and weapons while intoxicated and advised them that any additional gunshots would result in potential arrest. There were no other incidents or problems.

OVI: A deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a marked lanes violation North Monroe Street, Troy.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Phillip Oneil was arrested for OVI.

March 13

FAKE ADDRESS FOR SEX OFFENDER: Michael E Brown is a registered sex offender. He is required to register his home address with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. Michael Brown provided an address of 433 Weber St., Piqua, when registering with Miami County S.O. Sorn.

A quarterly address verification was conducted at the address Mr. Brown provided. I met with a female resident at 433 Weber Street in Piqua, Ohio. She advised that she and her husband have resided at 433 Weber Street since July 1st, 2014. She does not know Michael E. Brown and he does not reside there. She completed a written statement for the investigation.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING: A deputy was dispatched to the 10000 block of Panther Creek Road, Newton Township, on a criminal damage complaint. Dispatch advised that a blue and silver truck stuck fireworks in a mailbox. While enroute the suspected vehicle was located. After further investigation the juvenile suspects were warned for criminal damaging.

March 14

SUSPICIOUS: A deputy was dispatched to the area of Kessler-Fredrick Road and State Route 571 in reference to a suspicious person, dressed in all black with red hair, pacing at the intersection.

TRAILER STOLEN: A resident in the 4000 block of Scarff Road, Bethel Township, reported a trailer was stolen out of the driveway at the listed location sometime over the weekend.

TRESPASSING: A deputy was dispatched to a suspicious on Horseshoe Bend Road near the bridge.

A deputy located a red ford 4 door car stuck on a path in the wood near the river. The vehicle came back to Avis car rental.

Lt. LaChey stopped a vehicle leaving the area. We located the driver and the passenger.

They advised the would get the vehicle removed today. The operator and leaser of the vehicle was advised that they could be facing trespassing charges.
