Trustees discuss storm water agreement

MONROE TOWNSHIP — The Monroe Township Trustees authorized and signed an agreement with the Miami County Commissioners at their Feb. 1 board meeting regarding storm water.

This memorandum of understanding is an agreement between the trustees and the commissioners that pertains to the responsibilities of these two local government entities under the required Third Generation Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) Storm Water Permit for the Discharges of Storm Water.

The Miami County Board of Commissioners is the primary permit holder (Permittee) of this permit for the unincorporated, urbanized areas of Miami County and Monroe Township is the Co-Permittee for their 1.56 square miles portion of this area.

The board also passed an inspection agreement with Federal Field Services for the annual preventative maintenance of the township’s three outdoor warning sirens. The annual cost for this service is $1,350.00.

As a reminder, the Monroe Township Water and Sewer District will be meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, February 8 in the Monroe Township meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City. These meeting are open to the public.

Bills paid at the township trustees meeting on February 1 totaled $40,531.38.

The next township board meeting will move to Tuesday, February 16 at 7 p.m. in the township meeting room due to President’s Day falling on the third Monday of the month. The township offices and facilities will be closed on that Monday of February 15 in observance of the federal holiday.
