MIAMI COUNTY — At their first meetings of the new year, the Tipp City and West Milton councils swore in new and returning council members.
In Tipp City, new council members Carrie Arblaster and Tom Merritt were sworn in with reelected councilman John Kessler by Judge Elizabeth Gutmann. Joe Gibson and Pat Hale were reelected as council president and mayor, respectively, by the other members of council.
The Tipp City council made their annual appointments to several boards, including the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Parks Board.
In West Milton, returning members Scott Fogle, Don Dohrman, Sarah Copp, and Karen Grudich were also sworn in.
The West Milton council approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of a new dump truck chassis.
Village staff determined that the best price option was through the Ohio Cooperative Purchasing program for this vehicle.
The cost of the new chassis is $79,330, under the $125,000 budgeted for the purchase. The remainder of the budgeted funds will go toward the remainder of the truck, including the dump bed.
Council also approved a contract providing fire and police services, as well as sanitary sewer service, to Mertensia Springs.
