Trustees discuss township budget

MONROE TOWNSHIP — The proposed 2016 Monroe Township budget was presented by the township fiscal officer on June 1 at a regular township board meeting. Two copies of this proposed budget totaling $1,859,328.30 will be available in the township office for review by township residents of the unincorporated area. A public hearing will be held at the next township meeting 7 p.m. Monday, June 15 regarding this proposed budget.

The trustees also passed resolutions at the June 1 meeting agreeing to cost estimates from Tree Care, Inc. for removal of various dead trees in Maple Hill and Hyattsville cemeteries and at Deerdale Park; and from Wagner Paving Inc. for paving work and repairs at the Deerdale Park basketball court, and at the Maple Hill Cemetery township facilities and rental property. The board also approved payment of bills totaling $77,813.30.

The board accepted the financial status report of May 2015 and the bank reconciliation of April 30, 2015 as presented by the township fiscal officer.

In reports it was noted that the Maple Hill Cemetery Walk of “If Tombstones Could Talk” is set by the Tipp City Historical Society on Sunday, June 7 from 5-7 p.m., and that the Saturday Tipp City Farmer’s Market begins its season June 13 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Third and Main streets.

The Monroe Township Water and Sewer District meeting was held 6 p.m. Monday, June 8 in the township meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City. These meeting are always open to the public.
