PIQUA — The Fourth annual Family History Seminar will be offered Aug. 19 at 475 W. Loy Road, Piqua.

The seminar is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Participants will learn church records research techniques and using Ancestry.com and Facebook for family history.

Presenters will include Sunny Morton, Dana Palmer and Amie Tennant.

The all-day event will include two morning sessions, a lunch break and two afternoon sessions. The schedule is:

8:30 a.m. — Registration

9:15 a.m. — Welcome

9:30 a.m. — 10:20 a.m. first session

Class 1: “Genealogy 101: Learn the Right Way the First Time” — Amie Tennant

Class 2: “Using U.S. Church Records to Solve Genealogical Mysteries” — Sunny Morton

Class 3: “Finding Your German Ancestor’s Place of Origin” — Dana Palmer, CG

10:30 a.m. — 11:20 a.m. second session

Class 1: “Adding Sources to Family Tree: Beginning Genealogy” — Judy Scott

Class 2: “Ohio Research Techniques” — Dana Palmer, CG

Class 3: “5 Ways to Facebook Your Family History” — Sunny Morton

11:30 a.m. — 12:45 p.m. lunch break — Gym open for your showing of “A Celebration of Family History”

1-1:50 p.m. — third session

Class 1: “Strategies for Genealogy Beginners” — Amie Tennant

Class 2: “Lies, Errors, and Bias — Oh My! Consider Your Sources” — Sunny Morton

Class 3: “Hidden Treasures at Family Search” — Dana Palmer, CG

2-2:50 p.m. Fourth Session

Class 1: “Brick Wall Busters Hidden in the 1790-1840 U.S. Censuses” — Amie Tennant

Class 2: “Plan Your Next Family History Writing Project” — Sunny Morton

Class 3: “Tricks for Successful Searches at Ancestry.com” — Dana Palmer.
