Event to provide Christmas gifts for foster children

Tickets available until Oct. 23

TROY — Isaiah’s Place will present “Friday Eve,” an event full of mischief and purpose, at Smith’s Boathouse, 439 N. Elm St., Troy, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26.

Tickets are available until Monday, Oct. 23. A limited number of tickets are available.

Guests will be treated to ample amounts of the Boathouse’s appetizers and an array of desserts, a chance to win three valuable raffle items and a few little surprises, all with the fall scenery of the Miami River in the background.

“We will have a photographer on hand to take pictures on the balcony with the scenic river and fall colors in the background, weather permitting, and we will have festive props for taking fun inside photos,” said event co-chair and Isaiah’s Place director of business development, Shelly Calvert. “It is casual fun on a beautiful fall evening. People can expect a wonderful time with other people who care about the children of our community.”

The money raised at the event will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for foster children in Miami County and the surrounding area, according to Calvert, who explained that Isaiah’s Place assists foster parents at Christmas time with gifts for foster children.

Tickets to the Friday Eve event are $75 per person and can be purchased by calling Isaiah’s Place at (937) 335-3701, or by stopping by the office at 1100 Wayne Ave., Troy.

“We called the event ‘Friday Eve’ because it is being held on a Thursday night, which is Friday Eve. Make sure you show up on the 26th and be ready for more mischief,” Calvert said.

The agency, which currently serves more than 100 foster children, has seen an increased demand for foster families in the past several years. Isaiah’s Place provides support to families through licensed social workers, case specialists, support materials and on-going training. They also provide support for foster families and foster children through programs such as We Love Birthday Parties and through assistance with Christmas presents. New families are trained in-house at the Isaiah’s Place training facility.
