MONROE TOWNSHIP — Monroe Township Trustees heard a presentation at their Aug. 21 meeting from Tipp City Seniors Inc.
Building Committee Chairman John Berk that updated progress being made towards the new home for the Tipp City Seniors organization. The group is waiting for a zoning change through the city of Tipp City to take place within the next month before finalization can be made to purchase the building and property north of the Tipp City Post Office. Once all is in place, the seniors expect to take possession of this property sometime in September, and then proceed with a few modifications before a projected opening on North Hyatt Street in 2018.
Berk voiced appreciation for all the support to city and township residents and those who have made individual donations to make this five-year juncture come to fruition. He also expressed thanks to the township board of trustees and the township fiscal officer for guidance through this process, and promised soon to present the board with a financial status report on where public funds have been spent up to this point.
In reports it was noted the Tipp City Marketplace weekly Thursday gatherings between 5-8 p.m. will be meeting at the corner of East Main and South Third streets through September; and the Miami County Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off will continue 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Wednesday through September at the Miami County Sanitary Engineer Office, 2200 N. County Road 25-A, Troy.
Bills paid by the board Aug. 21 equaled $22,512.32.
The next township trustees meeting will shift to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5 in the Monroe Township meeting room due to Monday, Sept. 4 being the holiday of Labor Day. The offices and facilities will be closed in observance of this Federal Holiday.
