Art show celebrates local talent

WEST MILTON — Forty artists participated in the ninth annual Hoffman Art Show at Hoffman United Methodist Church in West Milton held Oct. 2-4.

Over 200 attendees had the opportunity to vote on their three favorite pieces among the 105 on display. Several pieces were sold throughout the show.

When the People’s Choice votes from all three days were tallied the winners were: 1st Place — Regina Whipp for “Grey Percherons,” $500; 2nd Place — George Stum for “Raccoon With Friends,” $400; 3rd Place — Jack Welbaum for “Eye of the Tiger,” $300; 4th Place — Judy Deisher for “Little Bird,” $150.

The $50 High School Student Award went to Kelly Naff for her pencil art.

Honorable Mentions of $100 each went to: Megan Kishman for “Wildflowers Learning to Grow”; Jeanne Wenrick for “Brukner’s Mill”; Bonnie Peer for “Symbol of Freedom”; Rita Orre for “Hummingbird Heaven”; Linda Lou Thorp Radwick for “Midnight Storm”; Edward Wilson for

“Giraffe”.

The show committee extends a special thank you to Bill Netzley of Netzley Roofing for the prize money donation of $2,000. The committee would also like to thank all the participants, as well as all those who attended the show. They also would like to recognize Bob Menker of Patterson’s Flowers for providing the variety of beautiful plants that add to the atmosphere of the show every year.
