Fair royalty contests to be held

TROY — The Miami County Fair King and Queen contest will be held on the first day of the fair this year, beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in the entertainment tent. Selection of a fair prince and princess will also be part of the contest.

The public is invited to attend.

Preliminary interviews were held on July 22. All contestants will be announced at the contest. Eight girls and three boys are vying for the queen/king crowns. One girl and four boys are competing for the Princess/Prince crowns. The emcee for the event will be Dee Mahan, office manager for Troy Main Street.

The queen candidates are: Liza Bair, daughter of Wendy and Todd Bair, sponsored by Miami East FFA; Katie Bodenmiller, daughter of Mark and Brenda Bodenmiller, sponsored by Elizabeth Livestock 4-H Club; Lauren Christian, daughter of Jennifer Christian, sponsored by Stitchin’ Sisters & Buildin’ Brothers; Jailee Duncan, daughter of Ron and Jodi Duncan, sponsored by Concord 4-H Odds and Ends; Alyssa Edgington, daughter of Stephanie and Brian Edgington, sponsored by Hares N Stuff 4-H Club; Holly Green, daughter of John and Michelle Green, sponsored by Indian Creek 4-H Club; Abigail Hissong, daughter of Ty and Candi Hissong, sponsored by Just 4 Fun 4-H Club; Cheyenne Parke, daughter of Shon and Brian Parke, sponsored by Premier Livestock.

The king candidates are: Michael Bair, son of David and Annette Bair, sponsored by Miami East FFA; Thomas Burkett, son of Toby and Denise Burkett, sponsored by Button Buddies 4-H Club and Boy Scouts of America Troop 586; Cody Durst, son of Andrew “AJ” Durst and Holly Marschal, sponsored by Bits N Pieces 4-H Cub.

The prince candidates are: William J. Case, son of Josh and Anne Case, sponsored by Concord Odds & Ends; Luke Jones, son of Beth Jones, sponsored by Union Township Meat Producers; Benjamin Maxson, son of Tom and Lisa Maxson, sponsored by Bits N Pieces 4-H Club; Jarod Ragan, son of Donald and Amy Ragan, sponsored by Button Buddies 4-H Club.

The princess candidate is: Summer Goeche, daughter of Dennis and Carmony Goecke, sponsored by Cloverbuds — Indian Creek 4-H Club.

The newly crowned king and queen, along with the prince and princess, will reign over the fair and assist with presenting awards to participants from the numerous shows and events that take place during fair week. The king and queen will also represent the Miami County Fair at high-profile events and parades throughout the year.
