St. John’s Festival opens Friday


TIPP CITY — This weekend, St. John the Baptist in Tipp City will host its annual parish festival, featuring rides, games, live music and more.

A Tipp City summer tradition, the St. John’s Festival offers free concerts featuring local bands Beesly, The Blue Leaf’s, and Hey There Morgan, as well as carnival games and rides, a corn hole tournament, bingo, and the opportunity to find new treasures at the flea market all weekend long. There will also be several baskets that will be raffled off, as well as a flat screen TV, iPad and cash prizes.

The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 14, with an opening ceremony and prayer. Friday night’s free concert feature Hey There Morgan at 6:30 p.m., the festival closes at 11 p.m.

Don’t miss your chance at cash prizes at Friday night’s corn hole tourney. Registration begins at 6 p.m., with the games beginning around 7 p.m. The corn hole tourney continues Saturday night at the same time.

Bingo in the banquet hall runs from 5:30-10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Festival hours on Saturday are from 3-11 p.m., with an afternoon concert featuring Beesly at 3 p.m. and The Blue Leaf’s at 6 p.m. A chicken dinner will be on offer from 5-7:30 p.m. The festival is open from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Ride bands are $1.50 per single ticket, $14 for a strip of 10, $20 for strip of 16, and the arm bands will be $14. All will be for sale at the rides booth.

Festival flea market hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.
