Tipp Players present War of the Worlds

For the Weekly Record Herald

TIPP CITY — Tipp City Players Community Theater is pleased to announce a Reader’s Theater of H.G. Wells The War of the Worlds at the Tipp City Roller Mill Oct. 16, 17, 2015.

Step back into 1938 for an evening of excitement, glamour and drama as Mr. and Mrs. Updike host their annual fall extravaganza with a special presentation of The War of the Worlds radio broadcast.

Come join as we recreate the radio program broadcast of this science fiction masterpiece. In late October 1938, The Mercury Theatre on the Air, headed by 23 year-old Orson Welles, broadcast an adaptation of the book that was so realistic that it caused widespread public panic, mob violence, and looting. Our presentation will showcase the original script with unique sound effects.

Refreshments will be served including exquisite beverages and appetizers provided by Mary Nilsen and Donna Crosier.

Cast includes Zack Dever, Dave Nickel, Jim Hooper, Rick Mains, Rich Nilsen, and Dave Pottenger.

The show (party!) will take place on Oct. 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. at the Tipp City Roller Mill located at 225 E. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio. Come dressed for the occasion if you are so inclined but it is not required.

Tickets for the show are $10 and can be reserved by phoning 937-667-SHOW or 937-667-0175. You may pay in advance online at tippcityplayers.org.
