Needy Basket seeks donations, volunteers

For the Weekly Record Herald

TIPP CITY — Christmas is coming and the Needy Basket Committee is again planning to deliver Christmas baskets to make the holidays a little brighter for families that may be facing financial difficulties this year.

Families will receive food to prepare a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, toys for younger children and gift cars for older children, and clothing vouchers from the Clothesline for the whole family.

Food and toy collection barrels and monetary donation canisters will be located in many local businesses during the holiday season to help support this effort. Through the continuing generosity and support of the Tipp City Community, Needy Basket has been able to keep this project going for 70 years.

Applications to receive a Christmas basket may be obtained at our 330A South Fifth St. location, rear entrance, or by calling 667-1977. Deadline is Dec. 1 and applicants must reside in Tipp City, Monroe Township, or Bethel Township in Miami County.

Volunteer drivers and vehicles will once again be needed to deliver baskets on Saturday, Dec. 19, starting at 8:30 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be served.

Please come and help us spread some Christmas cheer to families in our community. Volunteers are also needed year-round. The work isn’t hard and you will have a lot of fun working with and supporting your Tipp City neighbors.
